San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Movie News Recap

Each year, San Diego’s Comic-Con event grows more influential in helping Hollywood tease and launch upcoming blockbusters.  Nowhere is the excitement more frenzied than in and around Exhibit Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center, where the studios roll out their filmmakers, stars and sneak peeks at the movies ahead.  Below is a recap of all the movie-related excitement from Comic-Con, featuring a host of new images, posters, interviews and trailers that generated gigantic buzz with movie fans.

New trailers:

  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 teaser trailer – opening November 21, 2014
  • Mad Max: Fury Road Comic-Con trailer – opening May 15, 2015
  • The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies teaser trailer – opening December 17, 2014

Cast interviews and panel videos:

New movies announced:

  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be released July 28th, 2017
  • Combining characters from Django Unchained and Zorro, Quentin Tarantino presented his new western, The Hateful Eight
  • Godzilla 2 is in the works. Release date is still TBD.
  • King Kong: Skull Island will be released November 4, 2016
  • The Sinister Six will be released November 11, 2016
  • Army of Darkness 2 will be released in 2016

New Posters and Images:

More fun at Comic-Con:

  • Samsung tied-in with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 with an awesome display
  • Ben Affleck’s Bat-suit (hood and cowl) was on display for a closer look
  • Guardians of the Galaxy floor display featured a full-size ship
  • Comic-Con visitors were able to experience the worlds of Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim through an exclusive virtual reality experience
