Moviegoers Become FirstLook “Virtual Extras” in TNT Legends Trailer

When you set out for a trip to the movies, the last thing you’d expect would be to actually see yourself on the big screen! This past weekend however, moviegoers at the Regal Union Square movie theater in New York had the opportunity to become a FirstLook “virtual extra” in a trailer for the new TNT drama series, Legends.

Before people headed in to catch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Guardians of the Galaxy or another one of the year’s biggest blockbusters, we invited them to film a small part in the Legends trailer at a special TNT booth set up in the theater lobby. The NCM production team provided directions and cues to the participants during filming and make the footage look effortlessly seamless using green screen technology.

After capturing moviegoers’ scene-stealing performances, our intrepid video team quickly edited the footage and inserted it into NCM’s FirstLook in front of the film that each participant was going to see in near-real time — the whole process of movie magic took less than 15 minutes! Audience members were then surprised and delighted to see themselves and their friends up on the big screen alongside Legends star Sean Bean in the new action-packed show promo.

After the movie was over, participants were emailed a copy of their personal trailer to share with friends and family to prove that they really were movie stars for the day!

Read more from Variety or the official press release.

Legends is slated to premiere on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on TNT.
