The Disney adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book, The BFG, debuted its first trailer this week. The Steven Spielberg-directed film tells the tale of a young girl and the BFG who set out on an adventure to capture the menacing, people-eating giants terrorizing the human world. Academy Award-winner Mark Rylance stars as the Big Friendly Giant (BFG). (Wall Street Journal)

Arriba! Arriba! Looney Tunes cartoon Speedy Gonzales is on the fast track to the big screen as Warner Bros. unveils plans for an animated feature voiced by Mexican actor/filmmaker Eugenio Derbez. (Deadline)

Explore the Four Horsemen in this new featurette from X-Men: Apocalypse. Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant, recruits Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Angel (Ben Hardy) to help him wipe out humanity and rebuild the world. Disney announced plans for a new fairytale live-action adaptation based on Snow White’s sister, Rose Red.  (The Hollywood Reporter)

With just a month until the May 6 release of Captain America: Civil War, Good Morning America has debuted a behind-the-scenes video from the Atlanta set, complete with cast interviews and exclusive on-set footage.

One of everyone’s favorite features of a new Pixar movie is the animated short that plays just before the film. Meet Piper, an adorable beach-dwelling bird with hydrophobia, who will star in a six-minute short preceding this summer’s release of Finding Dory. (Entertainment Weekly)

Mark Hamill and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy introduced a month-long charitable initiative, Star Wars: Force for Change. Leading up to Star Wars Day on May 4, program will match donations to four select charities — U.S. Fund for UNICEF (in support of UNICEF Kid Power), American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Make-A-Wish — up to $1 million. Fans who donate will be entered to win amazing Star Wars prizes. (USA Today)
