Suburbicon

Matt Damon is not your average suburban dad in Suburbicon.

Let’s talk about the top stories in Hollywood this week.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Ben Mendelsohn is in negotiations to play the lead antagonist in the upcoming Captain Marvel film. It is likely Mendelsohn would portray the leader of the Skrulls, a race of shapeshifting aliens in the Marvel Comic universe. Captain Marvel comes to theaters March 6, 2019. (CinemaBlend)

Justice League’s official runtime will be 121 minutes, the shortest of all DC Extended Universe films to date. Many attribute this decision to Zach Snyder’s vision of a “much lighter and more traditional superhero movie.” (ScreenRant)

Marvel announced the start of production on Venom with a set photo on Twitter. The photo shows Tom Hardy who will play the lead in this Spider-Man spinoff, due October 2018. (Marvel)

For the much-anticipated sixth installment in the Terminator franchise, Arnold Schwarzenegger promises a “simpler” plot that disregards the “rules of the timeline and other [minor] characters.” This return to form comes in response to mixed reviews of 2015’s Terminator Genisys, a film Schwarzenegger admits was difficult to follow. A Dora the Explorer movie is in the works. The Muppets and Neighbors writer-director Nick Stoller will script the project, while Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners–Andrew Form and Brad Fuller–are producing. The studio is projecting a 2019 release. (Hollywood Reporter)
