After passing Captain America: Civil War with the most advance ticket sales in the MCU, Black Panther is now Fandango’s top-selling superhero film of all time. The highly-anticipated film is projected to debut to $120 million with as much as $150 million over the first four days. (Deadline)

Tom Cruise joined Instagram this week, sharing the title and photos from Mission: Impossible 6. In theaters July 7, Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s first trailer will debut during the Super Bowl. (Instagram)

Tom Hanks is set to play late children’s TV personality Fred Rogers in the biopic You Are My Friend. According to Hollywood Reporter, “the feature, which is set to begin production in September, is inspired by a real-life friendship between Rogers and award-winning journalist Tom Junod. The cynical journalist begrudgingly accepts an assignment to write a profile piece on the beloved TV icon Mr. Rogers and finds his perspective on life transformed.” (Hollywood Reporter)

Dr. Seuss’ most famous characters are returning to theaters. Warner Animation Group has entered a creative partnership to produce multiple feature films based on Dr. Seuss’ iconic cast of characters. The first feature to be produced under the deal will be a fully animated version of The Cat in the Hat. (Variety)

Jamie Lee Curtis shared a photo from the first day of shooting Halloween. Coming to theaters October 19, Curtis can be seen with director David Gordon Green who is holding the original slate from the first film released 40 years ago. (Twitter)

Passion of the Christ star Jim Caviezel confirmed that he is returning for a sequel. Caviezel has high hopes for the film, telling USA Today “the film [Mel Gibson is] going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.” (USA Today)

Paramount is hard at work developing a film franchise based on the Ology series of 13 books. Akiva Goldsman is overseeing the entire project with help from writers Jeff Pinkner (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Michael Chabon (Kavalier and Clay), Lindsey Beer (Kingkiller Chronicle) Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther), Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel) and Christina Hodson (Transformers, Bumblebee). Production has been put on hold again for Fox’s Gambit solo movie. Recently pushed to a June 7, 2019 release date, the Channing Tatum-led film will release June 7, 2019, giving Fox time to hire a director for the project. (ScreenRant)
