Let’s talk about the top stories in Hollywood this week.

Black Panther soared past last year’s Wonder Woman and Toy Story 3 to become the 20th highest-grossing film in domestic box office history. The latest Marvel Studios film will pass The Lion King shortly as it is only $1 million behind. Black Panther is on pace to become one of only 10 movies to cross $500 million domestically. (Variety)

Following the ongoing success of Black Panther, Disney is giving back to the community by giving the Boys & Girls Club of America a one-time grant to help open a STEM Center in Oakland. “It is thrilling to see how inspired young audiences were by the spectacular technology in the film,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger, “so it’s fitting that we show our appreciation by helping advance STEM programs for youth, especially in underserved areas of the country, to give them the knowledge and tools to build the future they want.” (ComingSoon)

Mark Hamill will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 8. Hamill, widely known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series, will be joined by Star Wars creator George Lucas and co-star Harrison Ford to accept his star. (Variety)

Almost four months before the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Universal revealed a June 11, 2021 release date for Jurassic World 3. Colin Trevorrow will return as an executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg, and join Emily Carmichael as a screenwriter. According to Hollywood Reporter, “plot details are being kept locked in a canister.” (Hollywood Reporter)

Chris Hemsworth is in early talks to star in a Men in Black spin-off. The Thor star would play one of the new agents recruited to the FBI. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith will not reprise their roles in this film slated for a May 17, 2019 release. (Variety)

Director James Gunn released a Spotify playlist titled Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 0. It is a collection of songs played on the set of the first installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. Titled “Awesome Mix Vol. 0,” the playlist contains 10 songs not featured in the first movie. (ScreenRant)

Will Smith is fighting off bugs on his first day of filming Gemini Man. Directed by Ang Lee, he and Smith begin their shoot in Georgia. The film is slated for release on October 4, 2019. (ComingSoon)

Character bios have leaked for Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s upcoming film Jungle Cruise. Johnson will play Frank Francisco, “the captain of the boat at the heart of Jungle Cruise, who just happens to be ‘cursed with immortality.’” Blunt will portray Lilly Houghton, “a scientist whose brother’s death inspires her to become obsessed with finding the Tree of Life.” The Disney film does not have a release date yet, but those close to production have described it as an Indiana Jones-style adventure. Bruce Willis confirmed on The Tonight Show that the script for Die Hard 6 is in the works. “I’m about to wing out to California to see what the script looks like,” said Willis. His next film, Death Wish, hits theaters this Friday. (CinemaBlend)
