Disney announced the start of production for Maleficent 2 yesterday. The impressive cast includes Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfieffer, Ed Skrein, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lesley Manville and more. Plot details and a release date have not been revealed. (Disney)

Jamie Foxx will star in Spawn, Blumhouse’s upcoming anti-hero film. The comic book adaptation follows double-crossed CIA operative Al Simmons who “is convinced to become a Hellspawn warrior in exchange for being able to be reunited with his wife.” Todd McFarlane, creator of the Spawn comics, will make his directorial debut. Daniel Craig will reprise his Bond role in a 5th outing as 007. Tentatively referred to as “#Bond25,” the film will be directed by Danny Boyle with an original screenplay from John Hodge. Production is set to begin December 3, 2018. (James Bond)

A Boba Fett stand-alone film is in the works at Lucasfilm with James Mangold tapped to write and direct. Mangold gained recognition for his work on Logan which he co-wrote and directed. Lucasfilm is also rumored to be working on a stand-alone film for Obi-Wan Kenobi. (Hollywood Reporter)

A lawyer representing STX Entertainment, the creators of The Happytime Murders, issued a statement in response to Sesame Street’s lawsuit against the film’s controversial marketing (“No Sesame. All Street.”). The lawyer is a puppet named Fred, Esq. Read the full statement here. (HuffPost)

Annihilation director Alex Garland is not interested in a sequel. In an interview with IndieWire, Garland did not object “to someone else [filming a sequel], but I’m not interested in the idea.” Annihilation is based on a book of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer, the first in a trilogy of sci-fi novels. Empire shared a first exclusive look at Bad Times at the El Royale, a thriller starring Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges and Nick Offerman. The photo shows Hemworth standing in the pouring rain with a sign reading “See You Again Soon” in the background. The film is slated for release on October 5. (Empire)

In an interview with Collider, Infinity War and Avenger 4 screenwriter Stephen McFeely confirmed that Brie Larson shot scenes for the upcoming Avengers film before her origin story, Captain America. The decision was based on scheduling conflicts. Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 both release in 2019, March 6 and May 3 respectively. (/Film)

Warner Bros. registered domains for Wonder Woman that could hint at the sequel’s title. One set of domains contain years ranging from 1980-1989, suggesting that the events of the second film could take place in this time period. Additional domains feature the words “Arrives,” “Cheetah,” “Lives,” “Minerva,” “Part 2,” “Returns” and “Rises.” The highly-anticipated sequel hits theaters November 1, 2019. (ScreenRant)
