Happy New Year! Let’s talk about the top stories in Hollywood this week!

With the new decade upon us, Variety’s film critics Owen Gleiberman and Peter Debruge share their picks for the top 10 best films of the past decade. Number one on their respective lists are 2010’s The Social Network and 2011’s The Tree of Life, while other top picks include La La Land (2016), Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Secret Sunshine (2010) and Amour (2012). Former President Barack Obama also released his annual list of favorites via social media. The Obamas’ list of favorite movies includes a selection of 18 documentaries and dramas, plus a concert film. Among his 2019 favorites like The Irishman, Marriage Story and Parasite is American Factory, a documentary from his new production company, Higher Ground. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Little Women beat all expectations with a strong debut Christmas weekend. The film brought in $29 million during its first five day opening. Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, Little Women was expected to hit $15-25 million. (CinemaBlend)

Jamie Foxx will receive the Spotlight Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala for his role in Just Mercy. Foxx plays Walter McMillian, a man who was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death in Alabama during the late 80’s. Quentin Tarantino will also be honored at the gala, receiving the Director of the Year award for his ninth feature film, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. (The Wrap)

Get ready! Ryan Reynolds has confirmed Deadpool 3 is in the works. During a recent appearance on Live with Regis & Kelly, Reynolds revealed the next film in the franchise is in development with Marvel Studios. However, there is no word on when the project will be released. (ScreenRant)

The Grudge is back – and this time it’s a lot scarier! When asked how this Grudge compares to the others, director Nicolas Pesce stated this would be the most disturbing Grudge yet. The film is based on the 2003 Japanese horror, Ju-On, by Takashi Shimizu and it hits theaters this Friday! (Indie Wire)

Marvel fans will get an exclusive look at the upcoming film, Black Widow, during the National College Football Championship on January 13th. Black Widow is led by Scarlett Johansson who plays Natasha, a Soviet-born spy, who faces her past following the events that occurred in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. The highly anticipated film is set to release May 1st, 2020. (ScreenRant)
